Atama soup is a vegetable and palm nut soup that originates from the Efik People of Cross River State in South South Nigeria.[1][2][3] It is popularly known amongst the Cross River and Akwa Ibom State People of Nigeria.[4][5] The soup is made from palm kernel; the extract of oil obtained from the palm kernel is what is used to make the soup. Atama soup is thick and cooked with varieties of meat, dry fish and sometimes periwinkle.[6][7][8] Ingredients for preparing it include: fresh palm kernel, onions, salt, and others.[9][10][11]

La sopa atama es una sopa de vegetales y nuez de palma originaria del pueblo Efik del Estado de Cross River en el sur de Nigeria.[1][2] Es una sopa popular entre los pobladores de Cross River y el pueblo Akwa Ibom de Nigeria. La sopa se prepara con kernel de palma; el extracto de aceite obtenido del núcleo de la palma es lo que se utiliza para preparar la sopa.
